چکیده

Cain, Delver R., Van De Velde, Robert, and Shapiro, Stephen J.: Spironolactone inclusions in an aldosteronoma. Am. J. Clin. Pathol. 61: 412-416, 1974. Spironolactone cytoplasmic inclusions were found in an aldosteronoma but not in the adjacent zona glomerulosa of an adrenal gland that was removed because of aldosteronism. Their light and electron microscopic appearance was similar to that of previous reports. No other reports of these inclusions in an aldosteronoma were found in the literature. (

Adrenal gland inclusions in patients treated with aldosterone antagonists (Spironolactone/Eplerenone): incidence, morphology, and ultrastructural findings

BACKGROUND Spironolactone is often used to treat hypertension caused by hyperaldosteronism, and as a result, can form concentrically laminated electron dense spironolactone body inclusions within the adrenal gland. Spironolactone bodies have not been investigated in a contemporary cohort or in patients treated with the more recently approved aldosterone antagonist, eplerenone. METHODS Spirono...

Regulation of aldosterone secretion by several aberrant receptors including for glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide in a patient with an aldosteronoma.

CONTEXT Primary adrenal Cushing's syndrome can result from the aberrant adrenal expression of several hormone receptors; this mechanism has not been explored in detail in aldosterone-producing tumors. OBJECTIVE The objective of the study was to evaluate a 56-yr-old male patient with an aldosteronoma for the regulation of aldosterone secretion by aberrant hormone receptors. RESULTS Renin-ind...

Fine structure and morphogenesis of spironolactone bodies in the zona glomerulosa of the human adrenal cortex.

Numerous spironolactone bodies have been detected in the zona glomerulosa cells of the adrenal cortex of a 36-year-old spironolactone-treated woman whose non-tumorous right adrenal gland was removed surgically because of primary hyperaldosteronism. Electron microscopy revealed spherical laminated whorls which consisted of a central core composed of an amorphous electron-dense material surrounde...

Primary aldosteronism: a new insight into pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment in hypertensive patients.

Primary aldosteronism (PA) seems to be a pathogenetically heterogenous disease. It is suggested that approximately 30% of all hypertensive patients are affected by this disease. Autonomous hypersecretion of aldosterone, which is observed in this patient group, may be caused by an adrenal adenoma (aldosteronoma), hyperplasia of the zona glomerulosa, mutation of the KCNJ5 potassium channel, or ot...

گزارش یک مورد هیپرآلدوسترونیسم به علت Aldosteronoma

Primary hyperaldosteronism is one of the few causes of hypertension that can be cured by surgery. Primary hyperaldosteronism is caused by adrenocortical adenoma or hyperplasia. It is important to differentiate between adrenal adenoma and hyperplasia because the preferred treatments are different. In all patients with new-onest or worsening hypertension the primary hyperaldosteronism should be c...
